Strong Pitching Leads Bulldogs to 3-1 Victory Over the Buccaneers

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel pitching staff allowed one earned run over nine innings in a 3-1 win over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Tuesday night.

How It Happened
  • Travis Elliott scored the first run of the game for the Bulldogs with a safety squeeze, bringing in Aryan Patel from third to make it 1-0 in the third inning.
  • The Buccaneers tied the game at 1-1 at the top of the fourth inning with a solo home run from Kaden Smith.
  • The Bulldogs regained the lead at 2-1 after a balk by Charleston Southern, scoring Lane Tobin in the bottom of the fourth.
  •  Thomas Rollauer added an insurance run for The Citadel with an RBI single up the middle, scoring Anthony Hauser and extending the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
  •  Maddox Webb held the Buccaneers scoreless during the eighth and ninth innings, securing a 3-1 victory for the Bulldogs.
