Bulldogs Host the Keydets for SoCon Series

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel (20-19, 4-5 SoCon) will host the VMI Keydets (25-17, 5-7 SoCon) for a three-game series at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park from April 25-27. The first pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 pm, Saturday at 3 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm.

Series History vs. the Keydets
The Bulldogs and the Keydets will meet for the 114th time on the diamond. The Bulldogs hold the all-time record at 78-35. Last season, the Keydets won the series against the Bulldogs 2-1.
 
Scouting VMI
VMI has an overall record of 25-17 and 5-7 in the SoCon. The Keydets lost 12-5 to Radford on Wednesday. VMI is batting .314 as a team with 417 hits, 75 doubles, 12 triples, 56 home runs, 381 RBIs, and 193 stolen bases. The Keydets are ranked first in the NCAA in stolen bases.
 
Bradley Garner leads the team with a .378 batting average, Grayson Fitzwater tops with 14 home runs, and Boston Torres leads with 55 RBIs. Owen Prince leads the NCAA in stolen bases with 44, and Kazuya Jordan ranks second with 39.
 
The Keydets' pitching staff has a team ERA of 7.48, based on 345.1 innings pitched, 352 strikeouts, and 287 earned runs.

The Bulldogs' recent road trip was the longest stretch between home games for 26 days in 2019.

The Citadel has 71 stolen bases on the season, the most since 2011, when the Bulldogs stole 93. Thomas Rollauer leads the team with 14 stolen bases, and Aryan Patel is second with 13.
 
Pitching Staff Shows Out
The Citadel pitching staff conceded one run over nine innings against Charleston Southern in a 3-1 victory. The Bulldogs have permitted zero or one run in six games.
