The Citadel Uses Big Sixth Inning to Defeat ETSU 7-3

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Bulldogs scored six runs in the sixth inning, clinching the series over ETSU 7-3 on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened
  • The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Anthony Hausner hit a solo home run to left field, making it 1-0.
  • The Bulldogs broke the game open at the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring six runs. Garrett Dill started things off with a sacrifice bunt, bringing Thomas Rollauer home to make it 2-0.
  • A bases-loaded hit by pitch from Phillips Daniels scored the Bulldogs' third run.
  • TJ Anderson extended the scoring with an RBI single to right field, bringing in Matthew Lively and increasing the score to 4-0.
  • Anthony Hausner recorded the second bases-loaded hit by pitch, giving the Dogs a 5-0 lead.
  • Thomas Rollauer hit a single up the middle, resulting in two RBIs that scored Anderson and Daniels and extended the Bulldogs' lead to seven runs over the Buccaneers.    
  • ETSU scored its first run of the game in the seventh inning with a two-run home run by Cooper Torres.
  • The Buccaneers turned the score to 7-3 in the eighth inning with an RBI single to center from Axel Melendez.

The Citadel and ETSU will compete in the series finale on May 17. The Bulldogs will honor nine seniors during pregame tomorrow, starting at 12:40 pm.
