Bulldogs to Face Georgia Southern

The Bulldogs hit the road and travel to Statesboro, Georgia, to face the Georgia Southern Eagles inside Hanner Fieldhouse on September 2 at 6 pm, with the match streamed on ESPN+.
 
About The Bulldogs
The Citadel starts the 2025 season 0-3 with losses at the Buc Dome Invitational.
 
The Bulldogs went 0-2 on the first day of the tournament and lost a tough match against Charleston Southern on Saturday.
 
In the 2024 season, the Bulldogs finished with a 15-14 overall record and an 8-8 conference record. The Citadel participated in three tournaments before entering conference play at Alabama, Nebraska, and Troy.
 
The Bulldogs were chosen as the preseason favorites in the Southern Conference, with Ali Ruffin and Belle Hogan receiving preseason honors.
 
Zelenock and the Bulldogs faced the No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers in front of a sold-out crowd of 8,607 in Lincoln, Nebraska, marking the highest away attendance the Bulldogs have ever played in.
 
The Bulldogs secured the No. 5 seed in the 2024 Southern Conference Tournament. They clinched a thrilling five-set match against Samford in the first round. The Citadel was eliminated in the semifinals by Mercer.
 
The Citadel finished the season as the NCAA Statistical Champion for digs per set with 19.44.
 
Scouting Report: Georgia Southern
The Eagles started the season 2-0 with wins over North Florida and UIC. They are hitting .162 as a team, with an average of 11.4 kills per set. Reagan Barth, a 6-0 outside hitter, leads the team with 34 kills, averaging a team-high 3.78 per set.
 
The last meeting against the Eagles was in Sept 2016, with the Bulldogs falling in five sets.
 
Freeman Named to All-Buc Dome Invitational Team
Savannah Freeman was named to the All-Buc Dome Invitational Team after recording 24 kills, averaging 2.40 per set.
 
Freeman recorded a career-high 15 kills and 16 digs against her former team at Charleston Southern.
 
Lippelgoos Shines for the Dogs
Luci Lippelgoos stood out defensively this past weekend by recording 14 total blocks, including six blocks against Charleston Southern on Saturday.
 
Lippelgoos is currently tied for first within the SoCon in total blocks.
 
Newcomers Introduced
Freshman Jordyn Sims made her first career start in the season opener for the Bulldogs, recording eight kills and five total blocks.
 
Graduate transfers Sammie Sabra and Alexa Psotka made their first appearances for The Citadel. Sabra posted 18 kills, and Psotka added 13 during the weekend.
