CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Citadel volleyball team lost in straight sets to the Campbell Camels (14-25, 12-25, 16-25) inside Curry Arena on the last day of the Queens Fall Classic.
The Citadel (0-8) recorded 20 kills with a .056 hitting percentage, while Campbell had 41 kills on a .354 hitting percentage.
Luci Lippelgoos led The Citadel with five kills, followed by
Rachel Reininger with four, and
Savannah Freeman with three.
Greta Pleuss recorded 14 assists along with five digs.
Karlie Vogelheim was tied for a match-high three blocks.
Gwen Wolkow posted 21 kills from the Camels.
Set 1: Campbell jumped to an early 6-2 lead, opening the first set with a 5-0 scoring run. A kill from Reininger brought it to 12-9, but a three-point run by the Camels extended the lead to 15-9. The Camels' lead grew to ten at 23-13, and they finished the set with a kill and an attack error.
Set 2: A 7-0 scoring run for the Camels gave them a ten-point lead at 13-3 in the second set. The Citadel cut the lead to six at 16-10, but a 5-0 run extended the lead to 21-10, which was enough as the Camels took the second set at 25-12.
Set 3: Campbell had an eight-point lead after a 5-0 run at 13-5. A kill from
Jordyn Sims and an attack error by Campbell brought the score to 20-13, but it wasn't enough as Campbell won the set and the match 25-16.

The Citadel will compete in the Wofford and USC Upstate Invitational on Sept. 20 with matches against Gardner-Webb and USC Upstate.
