SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Citadel (4-19, 1-10 SoCon) lost to Wofford (16-7, 9-2 SoCon) 3-0 (14-25, 16-25, 16-25) on Friday afternoon inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.

Jess Martin led the Bulldogs defensively with 21 digs and added a kill. Emma Pastusic recorded five kills, reaching 101 this season and surpassing the 100-kill milestone. Rachel Reininger also reached a season milestone, surpassing 200 kills with 201 on the year. Luci Lippelgoos finished with five kills, one service ace and three total blocks for a team-high eight points. Allie Davison tallied 14 assists, five digs and two block assists.

Avery White led Wofford with 12 kills while hitting .647 and adding six digs. Laney Klika collected 25 digs and six assists. Bradley Brown finished with eight kills, six total blocks and 12.5 points. Charlotte Bell added four kills and six block assists.

"When we were in system, we did a good job scoring, but we were out of system too often, which made it challenging for our setters to create variety in our offense. We have the ability to score; we just need to create more opportunities," said head coach Dave Zelenock. "Defensively, Jess did a really good job this weekend. We asked her to play two different positions, something she hasn't done in her career, and she showed a lot of maturity in adjusting, following the game plan, and contributing while moving around the court."

"Our goal coming into the match was to shut down Wofford's middle and establish a solid double block against their outside hitters," said middle blocker Luci Lippelgoos. "Our back-row defense was able to work around us effectively, which was a big reason Jess was able to collect so many digs."

When asked about her 19 solo blocks this season, which rank second in the Southern Conference, Lippelgoos credited her development to the team's emphasis on blocking fundamentals.

"We've put a lot of work into blocking this season, and I've focused on staying neutral and sticking with my middles as long as possible before moving outside. That work has really paid off with my solo blocks."
