CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team returned to the win column as the Bulldogs defeated Hofstra, 6-1, Wednesday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs secured the doubles point with a win at No. 1 as Ted Bagwell and Brady Gober earned a 6-3 victory while also picking up a default win at No. 3.

In singles play, The Citadel won five matches to seal the 6-1 result. Noah Van Dyke clinched the match at No. 1 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback victory. Gober earned a straight-set win at No. 2, and Bagwell battled to a three-set tiebreak victory at No. 3. Nicholas Stroumpis added a straight-set win at No. 5, and Graham Hardin recorded a win by default at No. 6. Hofstra's lone point came at No. 4 in singles play.

"A great win today for our team. Both teams battled hard for three hours, and we were able to secure the doubles point as Ted Bagwell and Brady Gober came through in a key moment," head coach Chuck Kriese said after the match. "Singles play was a dogfight from start to finish, and a tremendous amount of credit goes to Hofstra for their competitiveness and endurance. They had opportunities to swing the match, but Noah Van Dyke stepped up with a clutch effort, responding after a tough set and closing it out in the third.

"Yesterday's match was a tough one, and to respond with a win today means a lot. We had to bounce back after a difficult loss, and I am proud of the way the team responded. We will continue preparing for the final stretch of the season and look forward to the challenges ahead."

Up next, the Bulldogs travel to face Furman on Tuesday, March 24 at 2 p.m. ET in Greenville, S.C.
