LEXINGTON, Ky. — In spite of a late six-run rally during the seventh and eighth frames, The Citadel (5-7) dropped the second matchup of a three-game set at No. 21 Kentucky (13-2) via a 12-7 margin Saturday night at Kentucky Proud Park.
Miles Barbrey contributed two hits, including a double, and scored a run, marking his third straight game with two or more hits.
Lane Tobin drove in two RBIs with a hit.
Sam Dansky posted a season-high two hits and two runs, also registering a double.
Bryce Coulter earned the start on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while allowing three earned runs on as many hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Ben Brash came in relief, tossing 1.2 innings with one hit and two earned runs and setting down a trio on strikes and two walks.
Trip Brown stepped in for 2.0 innings, giving up two hits and two earned runs with one strikeout and one walk.
Steven Trone finished the game for the Bulldogs, giving up three hits and two earned runs.

Russell Triplett said. "We didn't play our best and made many uncharacteristic mistakes, but these guys keep responding and competing until the last pitch. We need to learn from both the positives and negatives as we continue to grow as a program."
