MACON, Ga. – The Citadel tennis team fell 7-0 to Mercer in Southern Conference action Saturday at the Copelan Tennis Complex.
Results
Mercer claimed the doubles point with wins at all three positions.
Brady Gober and
Ted Bagwell fell 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while
Tucker Hendrix and
Noah Van Dyke dropped a 6-4 decision at No. 2.
Reece Beckendorf and
Anthony Osipov also faltered 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles play, Van Dyke fell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, followed by Gober dropping a 6-2, 6-2 result at No. 2. Bagwell pushed his match to a third set before falling 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 3, while
Nick Stroumpis dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4. Beckendorf extended his match to a deciding set at No. 5 before falling 6-3, 1-6, 10-3, and
Graham Hardin was defeated 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 as Mercer secured the 7-0 result.
The Bulldogs wrap up the regular season Sunday at home, hosting Duke for a doubleheader at the Earle Tennis Center. First serve is set for 12:30 p.m., with the second match scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
