Baseball Preview: at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Citadel (16-16, 3-3 SoCon) heads to Spartanburg, S.C., for a three-game Southern Conference series against in-state foe Wofford (22-11, 5-1 SoCon) on April 10-12 at Russell C. King Field. First pitch for Friday is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. ET with Saturday set for 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Citadel and Wofford have met 132 times on the diamond, with the Terriers leading the all-time series 78-54. The Terriers took the season series last year against the Bulldogs and then beat them in the first round of the 2025 Southern Conference tournament, 12-4.

Bulldogs Show Out in Midweek
The Citadel won both midweek games on Tuesday and Wednesday, initially defeating Charleston Southern, 14-6, before knocking off Winthrop on the road, 10-8. The Bulldogs scored 24 runs, with 22 hits, four doubles, six home runs, and 22 RBIs.
 
The Bulldogs hit a total of five home runs against Charleston Southern, the most since 2023 and one shy of the record six last set in 2013 against Charleston Southern.
 
Hit Parade: The Citadel Tallies 13 games of 10+ Hits
After recording ten hits against Winthrop, the Bulldogs have reached 13 games with ten or more hits this season.
 
That Dog Will Hunt
Zach Hunt leads the team with five home runs and 24 RBIs this season. He ranks fourth in batting average at .268 and has a .515 slugging percentage.
 
Gibby's Two-Way Takeover
Michael Gibson has been stellar for the Bulldogs this season on both offense and defense. Gibson is 3-1 on the bump and ranks second on the team with 37 strikeouts. The senior hit two home runs against Charleston Southern, making him the first Bulldog this season to have a multi-home run game and the first since Travis Elliott in 2025, when he hit two against Charleston Southern.
