Baseball Concludes Home Slate Against Samford in Adjusted Weekend Series

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Due to expected inclement weather over the weekend, The Citadel and Samford have opted to adjust Friday into a split doubleheader, with the first game slated for noon followed by the second at 6 p.m. Saturday's game remains as scheduled for 6 p.m., and Sunday will have no contest.
 
The Citadel (25-22, 6-9 SoCon) will host the Samford Bulldogs (25-21, 9-6 SoCon) in the team's final home weekend series of the season at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

Tickets for all home games are available on CitadelSports.com/tickets or by calling the box office at 843-953-DOGS. Tickets will also be available at the stadium box office one hour before the first pitch.

Tickets purchased for Sunday's game will be accepted at the gate of all 3 games.

Please note: Fans who plan to attend both the first and second game on Friday must have a separate valid ticket for each game to enter the stadium. Fans will need to exit and re-enter between games with their game two ticket. Tickets already purchased for the Friday at 6 p.m. and/or Saturday 6 p.m. games will only be valid for those games.

ESPN+
The weekend series between The Citadel and Samford will be broadcast on ESPN+. Dave Weinstein and George Derrick Floyd will call Friday's games while Weinstein and Sawyer Reeves will call Saturday's game.
 
Radio
Brian Giffin, the voice of The Citadel Bulldogs, will call the complete three-game series via 102.1 FM and 1450 AM.
 
Series History vs. Samford
The Citadel and Samford have met 48 times on the diamond, with Samford leading the all-time series 35-13. Samford took the series last season in Birmingham, Ala.
 
Scouting Samford
Samford is 25-21 overall and 9-6 in the SoCon. They recently beat North Alabama in a midweek game and lost two-of-three to Mercer this past weekend. Samford is batting .291 as a team with 442 hits, 67 doubles, nine triples, 68 home runs, and 261 RBIs.
 
Jake Sounders leads the team with a .376 batting average, while Luke Boykin paces the squad with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs.
 
Samford's pitching staff has a team ERA of 6.03 over 386.2 innings, allowing 413 hits and 259 earned runs while striking out 387.
 
Bulldogs Sweep the Series Against the Blue Hose
The Citadel went 4-0 against Presbyterian this season after sweeping the Blue Hose over the weekend, good for the first weekend sweep for the Bulldogs since topping Marshall on February 20-21 and then Army on February 22.
 
Gibson Closes the Door
Michael Gibson earned his league-leading seventh save of the season against Presbyterian on May 3, joining Ryan Hines (2012) as the most recent pitcher to record seven saves in a season.

The Citadel will celebrate 15 cadet- and student-athletes on Saturday against Samford: Lane Tobin, Garrett Fulmer, Ben Brash, Matthew Lively, Phillips Daniels, Michael Gibson, Aryan Patel, Noah Cadiz, TJ Anderson, Josh Davis, Zane Davis, Andrew Stanley, Steven Trone, Jack Thunberg and Charles Carlberg.

The Citadel heads to Conway, S.C., for the team's final midweek game of the season on Tuesday, May 12 against Coastal Carolina.
