ON KNOWLES: Returns for a fifth year and will enter his third as the starting right guard on a very experienced offensive line ... has improved greatly over the past year and the coaching staff is looking for even better technique in the run game this season.

JUNIOR (2012): Played and started in all 11 games at right guard … recorded 52 knockdown blocks, including a career-high 12 in the season opener vs. Charleston Southern … credited with eight knockdown blocks in a win vs. Elon.

SOPHOMORE (2011): Played and started 10 games at right guard ... posted 49 knockdown blocks to rank third among all offensive linemen ... credited with eight knockdowns vs. VMI and had seven vs. Furman.

FRESHMAN (2010): Did not see action during his redshirt freshman season.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Glades Central High School ... lettered in football and track and field ... member of the varsity football team all four years ... named second team all-county and honorable mention all-area for large schools ... helped team average more than 40 points and 450 yards of total offense per game while not allowing a sack his senior year ... Glades Central posted a record of 44-7 during his career and won the 2006 Class 3A state championship while earning a No. 5 national ranking ... attended underclassmen camp and was selected one of the top five linemen.

PERSONAL: Son of Clara Washington ... majoring in psychology.
