Biography

CAREER (entering 2015 season): Has appeared in 62 games out of the bullpen over the past two seasons … ranks second in school history with 28 saves, only one behind Hank Kraft … has a record of 5-8 and an ERA of 3.33 … in 78.1 innings has allowed 61 hits and 32 runs (29 earned) with 42 walks and 88 strikeouts, an average of 10.11 strikeouts per nine innings.

SOPHOMORE (2014): Appeared in 29 games and saved 15 of them, the top mark in the SoCon and tied for 11th nationally … tied Link Saunders’ school record for saves in a season when he preserved a win over Elon in the opening round of the SoCon Tournament (5/20), working three innings of shutout ball against the Phoenix … had a record of 2-4 with an ERA of 1.67, allowing 22 hits and eight runs (all earned) in 43.0 innings … walked 23 and struck out 44 … earned saves against a pair of nationally-ranked teams … retired the final six batters including three strikeouts against No. 8 Louisville (2/15) and struck out the final batter who represented the potential tie run in a victory over No. 6 South Carolina (4/16) … saved all three games in a winning streak that included victories over Winthrop (4/22) and Furman (4/25-26) and wrapped up all three victories in the regular season closing series against UNCG (5/16-17) … struck out four and did not allow a run in a season-high four innings to pick up a win over College of Charleston (3/8) … fanned a career-high five, including three with two on and nobody out in the eighth, to save a one-run win over Winthrop (3/19) … was the winning pitcher when he threw three innings of two-hit shutout ball with three strikeouts against Coastal Carolina (4/1).

FRESHMAN (2013): Assumed the closer’s role during the fall of his freshman season … appeared in 33 games and recorded 13 saves to rank second in the SoCon and 20th in the nation … became the first Bulldog to reach double figures in saves since Link Saunders in 2006 … had a record of 3-4 with a 5.35 ERA, allowing 39 hits and 24 runs (21 earned) in 35.1 innings … walked 19 and struck out 44 with his average of 11.21 strikeouts per nine innings ranking fifth in school history … named second team All-SoCon by the coaches and media as well as to the SoCon All-Freshman team and was selected to the Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America squad … earned his first save against Winthrop (2/20) when he struck out two batters with runners on second and third … retired both batters he faced with the bases loaded in a save  against UNC Asheville (3/3) … gained another save against Winthrop (3/6) when he struck the side in the ninth … picked up his first SoCon save with two perfect innings and three strikeouts against Wofford (3/16) … retired the final two batters with the bases loaded in a save against Appalachian State (4/19) … had saves in two of The Citadel’s three victories in the SoCon Tournament against Western Carolina (5/23) and Appalachian State (5/25) and was the winning pitcher against the Mountaineers in the opening round (5/22) … longest outing was a 4.2 inning stint against Elon (4/7) when he allowed three hits and struck out four in pitching scoreless ball … contributed to an 11-inning, 1-0 shutout win over Georgia Southern (4/13) when he struck out all three Eagles he faced in his one inning of work.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Hanahan High School … named to the all-region team his junior and senior years … chosen to the Charleston Post & Courier All-Lowcountry team and was a member of the High School Sports Report all-state team following his senior campaign … selected to play in the North Carolina/South Carolina Select Game … rated as one of the top 500 prospects in the country by Perfect Game and the No. 10 right hander in South Carolina by The Diamond Prospects … helped lead Hanahan to the state championship game in 2010 and 2012.
