Biography

2022: Started all 54 games in which he appeared…hit .232 with eight doubles, one triple, four home runs and 37 RBIs…collected two hits and drove in two runs in each of the first two games of the season…homered twice and drove in career-high seven runs against Charleston Southern…added four RBIs in Villanova series to earn SoCon Player of the Week honors…had two hits in all three games against Saint Peter’s…drove in a pair of runs in victory over Charleston…hit a three-run homer in the first inning in final home game against Samford…went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles in SoCon Tournament victory over ETSU.

2021: Appeared in 40 games, making 38 starts…hit .250 with three home runs and 21 RBIs…collected two hits in first start of the season against Longwood…followed it up with three hits against North Florida…delivered a two-run homer against South Carolina…went 6-for-9 with five RBIs over final two games against Davidson…homered in a 2-for-3 effort in series finale against ETSU…hit second two-run homer of the season against South Carolina in a 2-for-4 effort in April...made two appearances on the mound late in the season…retired both hitters faced in debut against College of Charleston.


2020: Appeared in nine games, making four starts…hit .222 with two RBIs and a run scored…singled and scored a run in the middle game against Coppin State…drove in two runs in the series opener against Yale…delivered a pinch-hit single against Saint Peter’s.

2019: Appeared in 37 games, making 16 starts...hit .177 with a triple, home run and eight RBIs...went 1-for-3 in first career start against Michigan...came off the bench to deliver a pair of RBI singles in the series finale against VMI...drove in two runs with a triple in middle game at Furman...hit a first-pitch fastball deep to right for his first career home run at Charleston Southern...hit safely in six-straight games in mid April...singled in both games started at Western Carolina.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coach Kevin Durham at Pendleton High School…three-time all-region selection…garnered all-state accolades…selected to the North/South All-Select team…played one season of football.
 
PERSONAL: Son of Eric and Alicia Simpson…father played baseball at Southern Wesleyan…high school coached played four years at The Citadel…plans to major in physical education.
