The Citadel Athletics

The Citadel Athletics welcomes the addition of Lex Tuten to serve as an Assistant Coach for the baseball program. Tuten officially begins his tenure with The Citadel on Monday, Sept. 15.

Lex Tuten is in his first season as an assistant baseball coach at The Citadel. Since joining the staff in Fall 2025, he has been actively involved in player development, recruiting, and team operations, and helps create an environment where players are challenged.

Before joining The Citadel, Tuten spent three seasons on the coaching staff at Coker University, where he played a key role in developing the program's offense, catchers, and overall daily operations of the team. During his time there, the offense showed steady year-to-year improvement, multiple players earned conference and defensive honors, and the program maintained a strong academic standard. Tuten also brings valuable summer-league experience from the Coastal Plain League, where he served as Head Coach of the Florence Flamingos in 2024 after previously working as the team’s hitting coach.

A former collegiate player and two-time team captain, Tuten understands the daily demands of being a student-athlete and takes pride in building genuine relationships with his players. Tuten played collegiately at North Greenville University and Francis Marion University and competed in the CPL with the Florence Redwolves. Those experiences continue to shape his coaching philosophy — one rooted in toughness, trust, and genuine care for the people in his program.
