Biography

CAREER (entering 2014 season): Has played in 124 games with 90 starts over the past three seasons … enters his senior year with a batting average of .324 (107-330) with 14 doubles, three triples, a home run, 66 runs scored and 39 RBI … raised his batting average 116 points during his junior season … brings a streak of 40 consecutive games reaching base via a hit, walk or hit by pitch into the 2014 season.

JUNIOR (2013): Enjoyed a breakout season a year ago, ranking in the top 10 in the SoCon in five categories and the top 50 in the nation in four departments … named second team All-SoCon by coaches and media … batting average is tied for the 17th highest in a single season in school history while also ranking on the season list in sacrifices and fourth in stolen base percentage (.947) … knocked out a career-high five hits including two doubles and singled and scored the winning run in the ninth in an 8-7 win over Appalachian State (4/21) … that came as part of an 8-for-12 series against the Mountaineers and was the fifth game in a career-long 11-game hitting streak … added four-hit games against Samford (3/10) and Georgia Southern (4/12) … the four-hit game against Samford was part of a seven-game hitting streak during which he went 15-24 (.625) … hit his first career home run, a three-run shot against East Tennessee State (4/17) … matched that career high with three RBI against Appalachian State two games later (4/20) … finished the regular season with three hits in all three games against UNCG (5/16-18) and had three more multi-hit games in the SoCon tournament … helped The Citadel reach the championship game with one of the greatest defensive plays in school history … with the Bulldogs clinging to an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the ninth against Appalachian State in the semifinals (5/25), he made a diving catch in right center on a drive by Dillon Dobson and then doubled off Michael Pierson at first to end the game.

SOPHOMORE (2012): Played in 46 games with 24 starts in right field … batted .202 (17-84) with two doubles, a triple, seven runs scored and 13 RBI … had a three-run double in the sixth inning against College of Charleston (4/22) … had two hits including a double, scored and drove in a run against UNCG (4/14) … also had two-hit games against College of Charleston (4/20) and Georgia Southern (4/29) … drove in two runs vs. Wofford (3/30).

FRESHMAN (2011): Played in 19 games and started six times … had five hits in 22 at bats with a double, two runs scored and three RBI … had a two-run double against Appalachian State (3/4) in his first career start.

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of Ridge View High School … batted .400 with seven home runs and 15 stolen bases his senior season … named to 4-A all-region team, earned the team’s offensive award and was a Wendy’s Heisman finalist … became the school’s first inductee into the South Carolina Student Council Hall of Fame.

PERSONAL: Son of Wendi Wimmer … graduated from The Citadel in three years with a degree in health, exercise and sport science and is pursuing a master's degree in the same discipline in The Citadel Graduate School.
