Donnell Boucher is in his eleventh year at The Citadel and tenth as head strength and conditioning coach. In 2013, he was elevated to the role of Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning.
“Coach D” came to The Citadel as a graduate assistant in May 2007. Over the next six years, he was promoted three times to assistant director, director and assistant athletic director while establishing a consistent track record for recruiting and placing capable assistants. Former Citadel strength and conditioning staff members developed under Boucher have gone on to work at Arkansas State, Baylor, Clemson, College of Charleston, Kennesaw State, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Northwestern and Utah State.
While overseeing the performance training for the entire Citadel Athletics Department, Boucher has worked directly with the Bulldog football and baseball programs. Under his direction, several Citadel athletes have been drafted into the professional ranks, most notably football players Andre Roberts and Cortez Allen, as well as the highest draft pick in the history of the school, baseball’s Asher Wojciechowski (2010, 1st round, 41st pick, Toronto).
Well-respected in his field, Boucher has been published by various media outlets and has become a regular presenter at industry clinics across the nation.
Boucher earned a bachelor’s degree in health education from Worcester State in 2005 where he was a four-year letterman in football. In 2010, he completed his first master’s degree in health, exercise and sport science and in 2015, he completed a second master’s degree in social science with a focus in leadership. Both graduate degrees are from The Citadel Graduate College.
Prior to his arrival at The Citadel, Boucher served as performance director for the Competitive Athlete Training Zone in Auburn, Mass., where he trained athletes of all levels.
His professional certifications include the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) as well as the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association’s (CSCCA) strength and conditioning coach certified (SCCC). He is also a certified CPR/BLS Health Care Provider(+AED).
Boucher is married to the former Victoria Wayson.
