A veteran coach with 17 years of experience at the collegiate and professional level, Kade Rannings enters his first season as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator at The Citadel.

Rannings comes to the Lowcountry after most recently serving as the offensive quality control/quarterbacks coach for the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL.
Â
Prior to his time in the XFL, Rannings spent three seasons as a football administrator/special teams coordinator with the Green Bay Packers. He spent the final two seasons working alongside Coach Drayton.

His time in Green Bay was preceded by eight months in scouting and player evaluations with the Cleveland Browns.

Rannings spent 13 seasons working on the collegiate level, both at the FBS, FCS and Division II levels. He spent the 2013-14 seasons as the tight ends/assistant offensive line coach at Montana, helping the Griz to a pair of FCS Playoff appearances.

Rannings enjoyed a very successful run as the running backs coach at Colgate from 2008-13. During that time, he helped the Raiders to a pair of appearances in the FCS Playoffs, while coaching numerous All-Americans.

During his time, Rannings help mentor three of the top rushers in Colgate history, including all-time leading rusher Jordan Scott (5,621 yards). Nate Eachus rushed for 1,871 and 21 touchdowns in 2010 on his way to becoming a consensus First-Team All-American and a finalist for the Walter Payton Award.

Rannings also spent time as the wide receivers coach at St. Joseph’s College and as a defensive assistant at San Diego. He got his first collegiate job at his alma mater, Oregon State, working as a graduate assistant under Dennis Erickson. Â

Rannings has additional experience in the NFL as part of the Bill Walsh Minority Internship program. Under the program, Rannings has spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders (2022), Green Bay Packers/Buffalo Bills (2017), New York Jets (2016), St. Louis Rams (2015) and Detroit Lions (2012).
