SPARTANBURG, S.C. -
Goals early in both halves sparked Wofford to a 3-0 victory over The Citadel in a Southern Conference women's soccer contest on Sunday.

The Bulldogs (5-9, 1-3 SoCon) were attempting to build on Friday's 2-1 victory over Furman but were not able to produce any sustained offensive attack, finishing with only five shots and two on goal, both by Lea Raedle.

The Terriers (4-7, 1-3) got the only goal they would need in the ninth minute when Faith Lifer took a cross from Katherine Whisenhunt and headed it past Naomi Carter. Carter made six saves for the Bulldogs.

Wofford made it 2-0 just under two minutes into the second half on a goal by Brianna LaFontant. Mary Kathryn Macklen produced the final tally of the game in the 61st minute.

The Terriers had 25 shots with nine on goal and took six corner kicks to two for The Citadel. Kara Boggs made two saves for Wofford.

The Bulldogs return to WLI Field for a three-game homestand beginning Friday with a 4 p.m. game against Western Carolina.
