CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Citadel (0-0-1, 0-0-0) battled to a 2-2 draw against Queens University of Charlotte (0-0-1, 0-0-0) on Wednesday at the Queens Sports Complex. Both teams scored twice, with the Bulldogs recording nine shots on goal to Queens' four.
First Half
- Queens struck first with a goal at 7:24 by McKayla Budion, assisted by Grace Acevedo, putting them ahead 1-0.

Zoe Santos made a crucial save at 11:28, stopping a shot by Olivia Potter to keep Queens from extending its lead early.
- Despite several attempts, including shots by
Samantha Grantham at 30:04 and 38:32, the Bulldogs were unable to get past Ava Kreusling in goal.
- Tamia Ford added to the lead for Queens with a goal at 41:12, closing the half with a 2-0 advantage over the Bulldogs.
Second Half
- At 56:10,
Jasiah Pack scored her first goal of the season for the Bulldogs, assisted by
Samantha Grantham, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Samantha Grantham equalized for the Bulldogs at 65:12 with her first goal of the season, bringing the score to 2-2.
- The Citadel outshot Queens 7-1 in the second half, including four Bulldog attempts after the equalizer, but neither side was able to find the go-ahead goal.
- The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
"I couldn't be prouder of the battling spirit the ladies showed tonight," head coach
Ciaran Traquair said. "We asked them to be a little braver on the ball in the second half and were able to make some adjustments off the ball that helped us gain control of the game. Scoring two good goals and continuing to chase a winner was a fantastic way to finish. There were some good learning moments for us against a solid Queens team on the turf. We're excited to move forward and get ready for our home opener Monday."
Samantha Grantham contributed significantly on offense, notching her first goal and first assist of the season while taking five shots, four of which were on goal.
Jasiah Pack added a key goal, her first of the season, with three shots, all on target.
Zoe Santos, in goal, recorded two saves over 90 minutes, facing six shots and conceding two goals.
The Bulldogs have a record of 0-0-1. Queens also holds a record of 0-0-1.
Looking ahead, the Bulldogs will face Southern Utah on Monday, Aug. 17, at WLI Field in Charleston, S.C. The match will kick off at noon.
