CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team will host two SoCon opponents this weekend when they square off with Samford on Friday and Chattanooga on Sunday.
The Bulldogs head into the weekend following a SoCon opening loss to Mercer last Saturday.
Emilie Valenciano leads the team with 20 shots and 14 shots on goal and is followed closely by
Katherine Arroyo who has tallied 17 shots.
The Citadel currently leads the league in saves, with 92 so far this season.
Abby Koger has 57 saves on the season and
Sam Millspaugh has a .731 save percentage in six games played.
Samford comes into Friday's game with a 7-4 record and on a three-game unbeaten streak. The fellow Bulldogs are also 2-0 in the SoCon after beating Wofford and Furman last weekend. They currently rank second in the league in shots (67), goals (22) and goals per game with two. Samford is fourth in the league in shutouts, having posted three this season. Samford leads the all-time series record 7-1-1 with the last match-up coming in 2014 when the two teams faced off twice in the regular season and the SoCon tournament.
The Citadel will also face Chattanooga on Sunday. The Mocs currently have a 2-7-2, 0-1-1 record this season and will face Mercer on Friday for their third SoCon game of the season. Chattanooga is averaging 11.5 shots per game and 1.09 goals per game. McKenzie Gregg leads the team with 24 shots and 13 shots on goal. The Mocs lead the all-time series 8-5-1 but the Bulldogs took last season's game in Chattanooga 8-2.
Kick-off for Friday's game is set for 4:30 p.m. while Sunday's game is set to start at 2 p.m. Live stats will be available for both games at CitadelSports.com. Due to scheduling conflicts with other athletic events on campus, Friday's match will not be live streamed but video will be available for Sunday's game.
