LEXINGTON, Va. – The Citadel women's soccer team fell to SoCon foe VMI on Friday night in Lexington, Virginia, 3-0.

The Keydets (6-10, 2-5 SoCon) scored in the 5th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead and then tacked on another goal in the 39th minute to make the score 2-0 heading into the half.

In the 49th minute, VMI added another goal to make it 3-0 which would eventually turn into the final, giving the Keydets the SoCon victory.

Offensively, The Citadel (1-15, 0-6 SoCon) outshot VMI 20-15 with
Mady Riegel recording five shots and
Ilana Green tallying four. The two teams also recorded nine shots on goal apiece. The Citadel used only two subs in the game.

In goal,
Kim Mora recorded two saves and
Abby Koger tallied four. Darien Dunham for VMI had nine saves in the game. The Bulldogs also had nine corner kicks compared to the Keydets two.

"Statistically it was our best game of the season," head coach
Bob Winch said. "I thought the team pushed forward in the attack throughout the entire game."

The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m. at UNC Greensboro when they take on the Spartans for the final road SoCon game of the season.
