CHARLESTON, S.C.: The Citadel volleyball team fell to Furman on Saturday night 3-0.

The first set was a back-and-forth affair to begin with and then Furman opened up an eight-point run, taking a 16-6 lead. The Paladins would have a 24-10 lead but the Bulldogs put up a fight, scoring five straight points before eventually falling in the first set 25-14.

The Paladins would take the next set 25-15 after going on a seven-point run to take a 20-13 lead before eventually closing it out.

In the third set, Furman closed things out taking the final set 25-19.

Megan Sowell finished the match with nine kills and sophomore
Zuri Fenderson recorded six. Sophomore
Moriah Smith and freshman
Sumerlyn Carruthers had five and four, respectively. Carruthers led the Bulldogs with an .800 hitting percentage. Sowell and
Rachel Keefer both hit .500.
Samantha Espy led the team with eight digs and Keefer had six. Keefer also had a team high 28 assists.
