GREENVILLE, S.C. – In a makeup of Sunday's game, The Citadel women's soccer team fell to Chattanooga 2-1 at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Citadel (1-12, 0-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead 24 minutes into the first half after
Mady Riegel beat the keeper and connected from inside the 18 yard box.
The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Bulldogs heading into the second half but Chattanooga (3-8-2, 1-2-1) would even the score in the 65th minute after Skylar Brewer knotched her third goal of the season. The Mocs would record the go-ahead goal just six minutes later after Clare Latham found the left corner of the goal, just out of reach of keeper
Abby Koger.
The Mocs outshot the Bulldogs 19-11 in the game but The Citadel won the battle of the corner kicks 3-2.
Mady Riegel led the team in shots with four, three were on goal.
Kim Mora and
Abby Koger each recorded three saves in one half of work.
"I thought it was our best game of the season," head coach
Bob Winch said. "The team worked very hard today."
The Citadel returns to action on Friday when they begin a four-game road swing. First stop will be Western Carolina at 7 p.m. and then East Tennessee State on Sunday at 2 p.m. Live stats will be available for both games at
