GREENVILLE, N.C. – The Citadel tennis team dropped a pair of matches against East Carolina on Sunday, by scores of 5-2 and 5-1 at the ECU Indoor Tennis Center.
With the losses, the Bulldogs slipped to 2-12 overall while the Pirates improved to 6-6.
Artemie Amari picked up his fifth singles win of the season in the No. 4 position 7-5, 7-6 to give the Bulldogs their only point against ECU.
In the second match of the day the Pirates went up early and claimed the doubles point.
In singles play,
Peter Bleach fell by scores of 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 spot, while
Oliver Dedding was defeated 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 2 position.
The Bulldogs battled back to pick up wins in the No. 3 and 4 slots.
Amari nabbed his second win of the day in a competitive three sets. After falling 6-0 in the first set, Amari rallied to claim the next two sets by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
Nick Bradley came-from-behind to win his third match of the season after dropping the first set 5-7. Bradley was able to secure the point winning the second two sets 6-4, 8-0.

Chuck Kriese was pleased with the team's competitive play against a strong ECU team and looks forward to the upcoming matches.
"I am proud that we finished strong at the end of the day with two tough three-set wins from our rookies," Kriese said. "I give East Carolina credit for a good win and we are very eager to go outside with our tennis after three tough weekends of indoor play."
The Bulldogs are back in action on Feb. 28 when they take on Minnesota and North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
