Bulldogs Host Lafayette in Weekend Set at The Joe

CHARLESTON, S.C. - After having Wednesday's game at Winthrop rained out, The Citadel baseball team returns to action this weekend with a three-game series against Lafayette at Riley Park.

Game one is scheduled for Friday at 4, two hours earlier than the originally scheduled first pitch, and the series continues on Saturday at 2 and Sunday at 1.

The Winthrop game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 24 at 4 in Rock Hill.

All three games against Lafayette can be seen on the SoCon Digital Network and live stats will be available through citadelsports.com. Tickets can be purchased at Riley Park beginning one hour prior to the game each day.

This is the third meeting between the Bulldogs and Leopards. The teams have split a pair of games in Charleston, with Lafayette winning 18-9 at College Park in 1981 and The Citadel taking a 7-0 victory at Riley Park in 2003 behind six innings of two-hit, eight-strikeout pitching from Mark Egleton.

The Bulldogs are 7-7 on the season and in the midst of 14 straight home games not including the Winthrop postponement. The Citadel has won three of six games so far on the homestand, including a series win over former Southern Conference rival Elon last weekend.

Lafayette's schedule has fallen victim to the elements this spring. The Leopards have had nine games cancelled by weather and their only four games – a split with UMBC and two losses to Richmond – were played at the Charleston Baseball Academy's Dennis Park in Goose Creek.
