T&F Indoor Season Continues at Pair of Meets

Women's: Bob Pollock Classic Schedule
CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Citadel men's and women's track and field teams are back in action this weekend after opening their indoor seasons at the Captain's Invitational last Friday and Saturday. The men's squad travels to Navy to compete in the one-day Wesley A. Brown Invitational. Field events launch the event at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday.
Meanwhile the women's team will compete among a loaded field at the Bob Pollock Classic, hosted by Clemson. That event kicks off Friday evening and wraps up Saturday afternoon at the Tigers' indoor complex. Admission is free all weekend.
Both teams combined to put together a strong start to the indoor campaign at the Captain's Invite. Junior Malik Diggs led the pack for the men by winning the 200 IH and setting a facility and program record with a time of 25.47. Four other Bulldogs competed in that event and all five clocked times that rank in The Citadel's 200 IH top ten.
Diggs eventually followed that performance by finishing eighth overall in the 60-meter high hurdles with a time of 8.67. He and the rest of the Bulldogs' crop of hurdlers will compete in the 60HH directly following the opening distance events on Saturday.
In field events, the Bulldogs look to build on seven top-ten finishes overall last week. Sophomore Derrick Freeland placed fourth in the weight throw and sixth in the shot put and he will lead the throwers at the Wesley A. Brown Invite.
Last weekend, sophomore Asyria Daniels and freshman Dymond Ettson highlighted the women's performances by excelling in the long jump and triple jump. Both recorded jumps that now rank in the top ten in program history as Ettson seeks to match her output from her first collegiate indoor meet when the Bulldogs begin field events at the Bob Pollock Classic on Friday and finish finals Saturday morning.
Senior Caillian Colquitt continues her final indoor campaign this weekend as she anchors the distance medley relay along with other individual events. Colquitt clocked a 5:41 on her 1-mile leg of the DMR to help the relay team place fourth overall last weekend. The DMR at the Bob Pollock Classic will be the final event on Friday, beginning at roughly 6:25 p.m.
