Season Stats
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel men's tennis team will head up I-26 for two matches on Saturday, first stopping in Spartanburg for a 10 a.m. match with Spartanburg Methodist and then heading to Columbia to take on South Carolina at 6 p.m. inside the USC Field House.
Â
This is the first competition for the tennis team in two weeks after wintry weather cancelled the match against Wake Forest and postponed the SoCon match with Wofford. The Wofford match will now be held on April 13th in Spartanburg at 2:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are still looking for their first match win after facing stiff competition in the first four matches of the season. Spartanburg Methodist will be the first team the Bulldogs have faced this spring that is not ranked in ITA Division I rankings.
Â
This will be the first match of the 2016 spring season for the Pioneers who went 2-1 in the fall season. Spartanburg Methodist was tabbed 11th in the NJCAA ITA Tennis Rankings.
Â
The No. 59 Gamecocks are currently 2-2 this season after suffering two defeats last weekend as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend. South Carolina boasts two players currently ranked in the ITA singles rankings. Sophomore Harrison O'Keefe comes in at No. 61 and junior Alex Fennell is currently 116th.
