CHARLESTON, S.C. –The Citadel women's soccer team fell to SoCon rival VMI 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at W.L.I. Field.

Just like Friday's game against UNCG, neither team was able to get much of anything going offensively and the score stood at 0-0 after one half of play. The Bulldogs (4-11, 1-7 SoCon) led the Keydets (6-10, 3-4 SoCon) in shots 7-6 at the halftime break with
Katherine Arroyo and
Sam Waarum both recording two.

The match remained tied in the second half until the 62nd minute when VMI took a 1-0 lead thanks to a header off a corner kick. The Keydets extended their lead to 2-0 less than a minute later after a shot from outside the box snuck by keeper
Logan Leask.

The Citadel finished the game with 12 shots compared to VMI's 11. Arroyo paced the Bulldogs with three shots and two shots on goal.
Samara Nche,
Mady Riegel,
Caroline Cashion and Waarum all finished with two shots. Leask finished with five saves in 90 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs wrap up the regular season next weekend with a non-conference game at Hampton and then return to Charleston to host Mercer for Senior Day on Oct. 23.
