CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team fell to James Madison and Boston University on Thursday.
The Bulldogs (7-15) dropped both matches by the same 6-1 score, but produced more competitive individual results against Boston (5-5), pushing three of the six singles matches to three sets.
"Looking at the scores of our matches, we are getting to the finish line more and more in some very tough battles," head coach
Chuck Kriese said. "Tennis doesn't reward you until you suffer enough and lose close matches like we are doing. We have got to stay the course, and we will break through. I'm very proud of the way the guys competed in the second match today. We still have some work to do with our doubles and consistently tough mental performances out of each and every player."
Against James Madison (6-4), freshman
Roy Hobson won his second straight competition by taking a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles. Freshman
Michael Anzalone and sophomore
Nicholas Bradley won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, but the Dukes won at No. 1 and No. 3 to claim the match's opening point.
The Bulldogs won at No. 6 singles against the Terriers, with Anzalone taking a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 decision. Sophomore
Artemie Amari and freshman
Matthew Henson teamed up for a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2 singles, Henson pushed his match to three sets before falling 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, and at No. 3 Amari won his first set before dropping the next two.
