Box Score Box Score (PDF)

DAVIDSON, N.C.
– The Citadel tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Davidson at the Davidson Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Davidson (5-6) claimed the match's first point by sweeping the doubles competition. The Citadel (7-16) won two matches in singles play, but the Wildcats ultimately prevailed in a closely contested matchup.

"Give Davidson credit for a hard-fought win today," head coach Chuck Kriese said. "Their doubles win was key. We battled well, and every match could have swung our way. Artemie Amari and Michael Anzalone showed a lot in their victories."

Freshman Michael Anzalone won his second straight match with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory at the No. 5 position in the lineup that was his team-high ninth victory in singles play this season. Sophomore Artemie Amari won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 for his seventh singles win in 2016.

The Citadel continues its three-match weekend road trip with two contests Sunday. The Bulldogs play at Oglethorpe in Atlanta at 9 a.m. and then travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to face the Crimson Tide at 6 p.m.
