CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel baseball team dropped a close 1-0 decision to the College of Charleston on Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point.

Thomas Byelick threw seven strong innings, striking out four and giving up just five hits. The sophomore threw four consecutive three-up three-down innings before
Zach Lavery took over, making his sixth appearance of the season.

The Bulldogs (5-4) were solid defensively, turning two double plays in the game. The first came in the bottom of the seventh as Byelick struck out the batter and
Stephen Windham threw out the runner attempting to steal second. The second double play came in the next inning with the bases loaded as Lavery forced the batter to ground into a 6-4-3 double play and ended the Cougars' (6-4) scoring threat.
