Williamson Takes Fifth at Penn Relays

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Graduate senior Capers Williamson represented The Citadel at the Penn Relays on Saturday and secured a top-five finish in the javelin competition.
Williamson placed fifth overall with a heave of 225 feet, 11 inches. He was of one just five javelinists in the field to throw farther than 215 feet, reaching that mark in five of his six attempts. His top toss Saturday fell short of his Southern Conference-record throw of 231 feet, 5 inches, which he set in early April.
Williamson was the lone Bulldog to participate at the Penn Relays, one of the largest track and field events in the world that hosts some of the top competition from across the globe. This the first time he has competed at the event.
He and the Bulldogs now prepare for their last meet before the Southern Conference Championship as they travel to North Florida for the UNF Twilight Invitational on Wednesday. That meet begins at 3 p.m.
