
Williamson Resets School Javelin Record

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel graduate senior Capers Williamson broke his own program record in the javelin event for the second time in less than a month to highlight the Bulldogs' weekend at the Bill Carson Invitational in Greenville, North Carolina.
Williamson, who was recently named Southern Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Month, heaved a toss that reached 231 feet, 5 inches and set a new school and conference record. The senior won the event with that throw, which ranks 21st in the nation. Williamson recorded a toss of 231, 1 feet inch in early March.
Both men's and women's teams posted impressive performances in throwing events. Sophomore Griffin Miller followed behind Williamson in the javelin throw, placing seventh overall with a heave of 172 feet, 5 inches. That throw has Miller ranked fifth in the Southern Conference.
In the discus competition, freshman Ja'Lon Williams and sophomore Amos Jackson collected a pair of personal records. Williams took seventh place with a throw of 145 feet, 4 inches and Jackson's best heave reached 138 feet, 11 inches. Jackson later added a personal record in the hammer throw with a toss of 144 feet. Freshman Michael Fernandez (140 feet, 7 inches) and junior Richard Bertrand (136 feet, 5 inches) also picked up personal records in the hammer throw.
Sophomore Mady Reigel, freshman Kameron Cass and junior Kaitlyn Moore led a crop of women's throwers who put together solid outings. Cass secured a personal record in the hammer throw with a toss of 100 feet, 9 inches and added a seventh-place finish in the javelin throw with a heave of 105 feet, 10 inches. Reigel took fourth overall in the javelin throw, reaching 117 feet, 5 inches while Moore posted season-best hammer throw that totaled 116 feet, 6 inches.
Sophomore Devin Singleton shined for the men's runners on a busy Saturday. He took sixth overall in the 400-meter dash, clocking a season-best 50.06 and then followed that with a season-best 22.50 in the 200-meter sprint. Singleton later helped the men's 4x100-meter relay, joining Tevin Williams, Vinny Miller and Malik Diggs as the quartet posted a time of 43.16 and finished fifth.
Singleton ended his day in the long jump by placing ninth overall with a season-best jump of 21 feet, 5.5 inches. In other field men's events, Jackson Nosbisch and Tony Cuccaro grabbed a pair of eighth-place performances. Nosbisch took eighth in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, .75 inches while Cuccaroo placed eighth in the triple jump, leaping 38 feet, 3.25 inches.
For the women, the distance runners excelled on Saturday. Jessica DeWitte collected a team-high third-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking a 11:55.56. Senior Caillian Colquitt also had a solid day, finishing 13th in the 1500-meter run and 12th in the 3000-meter event.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team capped the two-day invitational by placing fourth overall. The group of Ty'Rhonza Harris, Sarah Johnson, Emani Little and Dewitte secured a time of 4:13.13.
