CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Vermont on Friday afternoon at W.L.I. Field.

"I'm disappointed to lose the game," The Citadel head coach Ciaran Traquair said. "We worked very hard off the ball and defended well for good spells of the match. We are struggling going forward and not creating enough chances as a team. To compete at this level, you have to carry a goal threat and we need to find that again going into Sunday. The effort is great, but we just need a little bit of quality to come away with a result."

The Bulldogs and Catamounts played a physical match with neither team able to separate much in the first half as the teams played to a scoreless 0-0 tie after the first 45 minutes. In the first half, The Citadel (3-3) registered three shots, one on goal, and one corner kick while Vermont (4-2-1) tallied five shots, two on goal, and two corner kicks.

The only goal of the match was scored quickly after the break as a Logan Leask save rebounded to the feet of Vermont's Colby Snyder, who found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. The score came in the 47th minute, and Vermont was able to withstand a few Bulldog opportunities throughout the rest of the half to make Snyder's goal hold up for the win.

Leask played the entire game in goal and recorded seven saves, pushing her season total to 30. Emilie Valenciano played all 90 minutes and led the Bulldogs with two shots. Tori Zeltner, Tinslee Dilday, Ray Brown, Montana Hinson and Sam Waarum also played the full 90 minutes.
