CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel women's soccer team fell in its Southern Conference opener on Friday afternoon 4-1.

ETSU (6-3-1, 1-0 SoCon) took a 1-0 lead into halftime after scoring in the 37th minute on a shot that just squeaked by goalkeeper
Abby Koger. The Bucs finished the first half with 10 shots but The Citadel's (3-5, 0-1 SoCon) defense held strong to keep ETSU's lead to one.

Offensively, both teams exploded in the second half as they combined for 17 shots and four goals. ETSU scored three times in the second 45 minutes of play and the Bulldogs lone goal in the game came courtesy of
Samara Nche in the 77th minute. After being kicked around the box multiple times, Nche received the ball from
Montana Hinson and found the back of the net for her second goal this season.

Koger, in her first start this year, registered five saves in 90 minutes of play.
Emilie Valenciano once again led The Citadel in shots and shots on goal with three apiece.

Mady Riegel and Nche all tallied two shots. 10 Bulldogs played the entire 90 minutes in the match.
