CLEMSON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team competed in its first dual matches of the season against Georgia Southern and Clemson on Saturday.

Matthew Henson won his first set at No. 1 singles 6-3 before GSU's JC Acala won the second set 6-1 and the third set 6-2 to claim the victory. Both
Michael Anzalone and
Noah Nowabi also took early leads in the singles by winning their first sets against their GSU opponents, but Anzalone dropped 6-3, 7-5 and Nowabi dropped 6-1, 6-2.
Roy Hobson also had a quick 6-4 start in his first set against GSU's Stefano Di Aloy then fell 6-1, 6-2.

Georgia Southern won the match's opening point by sweeping the doubles competition and claimed a 7-0 victory.

The Bulldogs fought Clemson to complete Saturday's doubleheader and dropped a 6-1 decision. Freshman
Jack Pyritz picked up his first collegiate singles win with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Marshall Dagostine at the No. 6 position.

Clemson swept the match in the doubles competition, earning a 6-1 decision against the Bulldogs.
