CULLOWHEE, N.C. –The Citadel volleyball team dropped its match against Southern Conference opponent Western Carolina 3-1 in Cullowhee, N.C. on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (7-18, 1-6 SoCon) fell 25-18 and 25-15 in the first two sets to the Catamounts (7-14, 2-6), before grabbing a third-set victory 25-17. WCU then answered with a 25-15 win in the fourth to close out the match.
Sophomore
Jen Barbot led the Bulldogs in attacks with 10 kills, followed by senior
Moriah Smith who earned nine. Freshman
Sharlissa De Jesus was also a key impact player with three service aces and nine digs.
Up next, the Bulldogs will return to McAlister Field House to host conference foe Mercer on Friday, Oct. 20 and Samford on Saturday, Oct. 21. When the Bulldogs faced off against Mercer earlier this season in Macon, Ga. the Bears (7-13, 2-6) won 3-1. Shortly after, the Bulldogs traveled to Birmingham, Ala. and defeated Samford for the first time in school history, 3-0.
