CHARLESTON, S.C. – After defeating Mercer on Friday night, The Citadel volleyball team fell 3-1 in McAlister Field House on Saturday, Oct. 21 to Southern Conference foe Samford.
The Citadel (8-19, 2-8 SoCon) started off strong against the Samford Bulldogs (10-14, 5-5) and won the first 25-18. Samford then answered with three straight wins in the second, third and fourth sets to take the 3-1 victory.
Freshman
Sharlissa De Jesus was the lead attacker for the Bulldogs with 17 kills. Sophomore
Sarah Dobrich was also an impact player with three service aces and four total blocks.
Next for the Bulldogs is a mid-week matchup in McAlister Field House against the Wofford Terriers (16-8, 6-4), on Oct. 25 at 6:00 p.m. The last time the two faced off in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 27 the Terriers swept the match 3-0.
Wednesday's match is "Paws for a Cause" where Wofford and The Citadel have teamed up to raise donations for the Puerto Rico hurricane relief.
