CHARLESTON, S.C. –The Citadel volleyball team dropped its match to Southern Conference opponent Wofford in McAlister Field House on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 6:00 p.m.
The Citadel (8-20, 2-9 SoCon) won the first set in a 32-30 battle against the Wofford Terriers (18-8, 8-4). The Terriers then answered by taking the second, third and fourth sets 25-23, 25-19 and 25-20, respectively.
Sophomore
Sarah Dobrich collected seven total blocks to earn a total of 107 this season, breaking her 2016 total blocks record of 106. Dobrich currently ranks third in program history for total blocks in a single season.
Senior
Moriah Smith led the Bulldogs in attacks with 17 kills on the night, and sophomore
Jen Barbot tallied 11 kills, her second-highest of the season. Senior
Gracie Barnes was also a key impact player for the Bulldogs with 14 digs and eight assists.
Wednesday's match closed out "Paws for a Cause", where Wofford and The Citadel teamed up to raise donations for Puerto Rico hurricane relief efforts. Both teams raised a total of $1,611 as well as a number of supplies to help Puerto Ricans in need.
The Bulldogs head to East Tennessee State (11-10, 7-3) on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6:00 p.m. to face the Bucs for the second time this season. The Bucs swept the match 3-0 the last time the two teams met in Charleston, S.C. on Sept. 30.
After Friday's match, the Bulldogs will continue their Tennessee road tour when they travel to Chattanooga (12-12, 5-5) on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 p.m. The Bulldogs dropped the match against the Mocs 3-0 when they competed back on Sept. 29.
