CHARLESTON, S.C. –Despite a third set victory, The Citadel volleyball team fell 3-1 to undefeated Southern Conference opponent Furman on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in McAlister Field House.
The Bulldogs (6-16, 1-5 SoCon) started slow against the Paladins and dropped the first and second sets 25-19, 25-23 respectively. The Bulldogs battled back in the third set to win 25-23 with 16 total kills.
Freshman
Sharlissa De Jesus led the Bulldogs with 17 kills, and senior
Moriah Smith followed closely behind with 13 kills. Smith also had a team-high 15 digs and freshman
Megan Fuhr led the team with 24 assists.
Up next, the Bulldogs will take a break from conference play as they host South Carolina State next Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 6:00 p.m. in McAlister Field House. The SCSU Bulldogs are currently 1-16 this season after falling to Winthrop 3-1 on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
