GREENVILLE, S.C. – Despite having hot starts in the first two sets, The Citadel volleyball team fell 3-0 to Southern Conference leader Furman on Wednesday, Nov. 1 in Greenville, S.C.
The Bulldogs (8-23, 2-12 SoCon) attacked fast in the first set against the Paladins (17-8, 11-1) to take a 10-7 lead, their largest of the set. The Paladins battled back to grab the 25-20 win, putting them up 1-0 over the Bulldogs.
In the second set, the Bulldogs were the first to pull away after earning three straight points for a score of 8-4. The Paladins answered by taking the second set 25-19, and then swept the third set to secure the 3-0 victory.
Freshman
Sharlissa De Jesus was the key impact player for the Bulldogs with seven kills, five digs and a single service ace.
Up next, the Bulldogs will return to McAlister Field House to close out the regular season with matches on Friday, Nov. 10 against Western Carolina, and Saturday, Nov. 11 against UNC-Greensboro. Friday's match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday's match is set for 2:00 p.m.
