Box Score 2 SUMTER, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team faced Coker and Spartanburg Methodist to end the USC Sumter Invitational Saturday.Â

The Bulldogs (3-9) fell 5-4 in a close match against Coker (5-1) in the first match of the day. The Cobras took the first two competitions in the doubles and freshman
Isaac Stolar and sophomore
Michael Anzalone won 8-5 at the No. 3 position.

In the singles competition freshman
Noah Nawabi won at the No. 2 position 6-0, 6-0, sophomore
Matthew Henson won 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 position and sophomore
Trey Davis won at the No. 5 spot 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Citadel then defeated Spartanburg Methodist 8-1 in the final match of the tournament. Stolar and Anzalone captured their second win in the doubles competition with a score of 8-0 at the No. 2 position.

The Bulldogs then swept the singles competition starting with a 6-4, 6-4 win for Anzalone at the No. 1 position. Nawabi won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 position, Hobson won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot, Davis won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 position and Stolar won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 spot.

The Bulldogs will take a break next week before traveling to Cleveland, Tennessee, to compete against Lee on February 24.
