Box Score 2 ATLANTA – The Citadel tennis team faced Georgia Gwinnett and Spartanburg Methodist on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (1-8) fell 9-0 to the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies (3-0), and then topped the Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers 7-2.
To begin the day, the Bulldogs faced the NAIA No.1-ranked Grizzlies in the doubles competition.
Sophomores
Roy Hobson and
Matthew Henson fell to the first-ranked doubles duo Kevin Konfederak and Jordan Cox 8-1 at the No. 1 position. The Grizzlies continued on to sweep the doubles and singles competitions to earn the victory.
The Citadel then defeated the Pioneers. Freshman
Isaac Stolar and sophomore
Michael Anzalone earned an 8-0 victory at the No. 2 position against Cody Brown and Jacob Gault of the Pioneers. Senior
Connor Grady and freshman
Noah Nawabi followed with an 8-1 win over the Pioneers' Clayton Hernandez and Daniel Stacy at the No. 3 position. In the singles competition, the Bulldogs fell at the No. 1 position but then swept the remaining five positions to take the win overall.
