Bulldogs Head to North Charleston for Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel track and field teams will compete in the CSU Spring Break Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Bagwell-Settle Track in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Last week at the Tiger Orange and Blue Invitational, freshman Jessy Page for the women's team broke The Citadel's freshman record in the hammer throw with a toss of 156 feet, 2 inches to finish first. Page also broke the program's freshman record in the discus with a throw of 132-3, and is now No. 3 on the all-time list for both events. Senior Kaitlyn Moore finished second in the hammer throw with a personal best of 135-1 to move her up to the No. 8 spot on the all-time list.
Junior Mady Riegel won first place in the javelin with a throw of 131-1. Junior Asyria Daniels finished second in the long jump with a leap of 16-9.25, while sophomore Hannah Murray took third place with a personal-best jump of 16-3.25 to earn No. 6 spot on the program's all-time list.
For the men's team, senior Richard Bertrand took first place in the discus with a toss of 131-10, and sophomore Daniel Andrews finished first in the hammer throw with a personal best of 150-11.
Junior Derrick Freeland won first place in the shot put with a toss of 43-2.25. Junior Griffin Miller also captured the first-place spot in the javelin throw with a toss of 173-1.
Senior Malik Diggs took second place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.10 seconds and also finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best of 56.71.
The two-day event hosted by the Buccaneers is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Full meet results will be available at CitadelSports.com.
