CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel baseball team dropped game one against Dartmouth 7-2 on Thursday evening at Joe Riley Park.

The Bulldogs (5-11) made solid contact throughout the game off of Big Green pitchers, but were held to just two runs on six hits.

Jonathan Sabo and Barrett Charpia stayed hot at the plate, each finishing 2-for-4. Charpia hit his fourth home run of the season, and his third in two games, in the second inning. He also drove in Sabo in the sixth for his team-leading 15th RBI, which cut the deficit at the time down to two runs.

Dylan Spence drew his first start of the year, allowing four runs over 3.1 innings. Ryan Stamler entered in relief for Spence, striking six batters out over 2.2 shutout innings.

Jordan Merritt struck out one batter in a scoreless seventh inning for the Bulldogs. William Kinney hit his team-best seventh double of the season.

Cole O'Connor earned the victory for Dartmouth (5-2) with six innings of two-run ball. Trevor Johnson and Nate Ostmo hit home runs for the Big Green.

JP Sears is scheduled to start on Friday for the Bulldogs against Dartmouth's Jack Fossand with first pitch at 5 p.m. at Joe Riley Park. Live stats and video will be available at CitadelSports.com.
