Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team fell in its first home doubleheader of the season against conference opponent Mercer on Sunday.

The Mercer Bears (11-2) swept the first match in both singles and doubles competitions over the Bulldogs (8-12) with a score of 7-0.

During the second match, sophomore
Matthew Henson and junior
Ryan Templet won in the doubles competition at the No. 3 position over Jordan Mark and Sam Fried for Mercer by a score of 6-4. Freshman
Willem van Zyl defeated Mercer's Olivier Stewart in the singles competition at the No. 3 spot after a 5-4 retirement. The Bulldogs eventually fell 6-1 to the Bears.

Next up on the Bulldogs' schedule is a home match against James Madison on Tuesday. The Dukes currently hold a 3-5 record after coming off a 7-0 loss to Virginia Tech on Sunday. Â
