Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team dropped both matches of a doubleheader to James Madison on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (8-14) started the day with sophomore
Michael Anzalone and freshman Willie van Zyl at the No. 1 doubles, with senior
Connor Grady and freshman
Noah Nawabi at the No. 2 position and sophomore
Matthew Henson and junior
Ryan Templet at No. 3.
JMU (5-5) eventually swept the doubles and singles competitions to win the first match 7-0.
During the second match, Anzalone and freshman
Isaac Stolar won 6-1 at the No. 2 position in doubles. Grady and Nawabi held a close match at the No. 3 spot against JMU's Miljan Ruzic and August Simonsen but eventually fell 7-6.
In the singles competition, van Zyl defeated Damon Roberts from JMU at the No. 3 position by a score of 7-6, 2-6, 6-4. Sophomore
Roy Hobson also secured a win for the Bulldogs at the No. 5 spot against JMU's Brett Moorehead 6-2, 7-5. The Dukes took the remaining singles to win the second match 5-2.
On Thursday, the Bulldogs will take on Stetson at the Earle Tennis Center. The Hatters presently have a 7-3 record and are on a four-match winning streak.
