Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel tennis team fell to Wofford before defeating USC Sumter at the Earle Tennis Center on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs (11-28, 1-4 SoCon) started the day by facing off against the Terriers (13-8, 3-3). The Terriers swept the doubles and singles competitions to win 7-0 over the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs then took on the Fire Ants on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs won all three of the doubles competitions, starting with sophomore
Michael Anzalone and senior
Joe Bove who won 8-5 at the No. 1 position. Sophomores
Matthew Henson and
Ryan Templet won 8-2 at the No. 2 spot, and senior
Connor Grady and sophomore
Roy Hobson took the No. 3 spot by a score of 8-0.
In the singles action, Anzalone started the Bulldogs off with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 1 position. Freshman
Willem van Zyl won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot, and Henson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Hobson then took the No. 4 spot with a score of 6-0, 6-0. To finish, freshman
Isaac Stolar won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 position, and Bove took the No. 6 spot with a score of 6-1, 6-1. The Bulldogs claimed a 9-0 victory.
Next up, the Bulldogs will travel to Johnson City, Tennessee, to compete against ETSU on Friday. The Bulldogs will continue their road tour into Saturday when they face Samford and Alabama-Huntsville in Birmingham, Alabama.
Friday's match against the Bucs is set for 2 p.m., and Saturday's matches are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Full results will be available at CitadelSports.com at the conclusion of all matches.
