Box Score 2 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Citadel tennis team fell to Samford before dropping a close match to Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday.
The Samford Bulldogs (7-11, 3-4 SoCon) swept the singles and doubles competitions to win 7-0.
In doubles action against the Chargers (9-14), sophomores
Matthew Henson and
Roy Hobson defeated Noah Pring and Brodie Holmes 8-4 at the No. 2 position. The Chargers won at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots to start the match with a 2-1 lead against the Bulldogs.
In the singles competition, Henson won at the No. 3 position with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Freshman
Willem van Zyl won 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot, and sophomore
Roy Hobson won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5. The Chargers went on to win 5-4.
The Bulldogs (11-31, 1-6) head to Greenville, South Carolina, on Friday to compete in the Southern Conference Championships as the No. 7 seed.
